Survey

I offered the survey to new students that were taking the class last week, and 1 of the student pointed out that question 5 (spanish Version of the survey) didnt have an option for them to choose. So i compared both survey (english and spanish) and notice the difference. The spanish 1 didnt have option "Zero" for them to check on.

Project Status

Mohamed,
At our team meeting, we discussed ticket passes for an advanced class. Have you started working on that yet. These passes should be business size cards and read, "Microsoft Advanced Student." Our logo and info should be on it as well. Start creating some possible tickets styles.

Also, make sure Roswell joins us on the blog.

Please convert calendars to PDF. You'll find them on our network. The ones you can convert are marked off with an "x." - i.e. - SeptPOCx.pub, Sept08x.pub (for next time).

Also, see if someone can help you fold. Ask someone in employment or if a client can assist you. I did a batch as well. If you don't get help, do the 20 phone calls later this week. The foldings need to be done asap!

Bronx Technology Survey

This is a strong reminder to get to the phone calls to wrap up the Bronx Technology Surveys by the end of the year. I'd like to reach a minimum of 500 completed surveys or close to it as possible.

I'd like you to start making at least 20 phone calls a day starting next week, Aug 25th. Not everyone will pick up and not everyone will want to participate. This task is really important and the interns have given you a good head start. I last told them to skip to 1000 in the database. See where they left off and pick up from there.

Conduct survey for Windows XP class at 4:45pm and 7:45pm. They are ready and on the homepage. If people leave early, catch them on the way out and put them on a kiosk in the lobby if you have to. Tell them it's very important. It's also a lot shorter than previous surveys.

Hello ETPi. You have completed your first full week. I have been getting very positive feedback about your help, abilities, and potential. Here are a few things that will make you sharper and professional as you learn how to become working adults. Yep, that's why you are as an intern. To become professional working adults.

1. Dress the part - slacks or khakis are good. Jeans are not professional but can be worn on Fridays. Sneakers are not professional but dark shoes are. The better the shirt the more professional you'll come across to students and clients. It makes them feel good and comfortable that they have such mature and well dressed young people helping them.

2. Relationships - you are here to work. Making friends is fine when it's outside of work. When you are in your workplace, fooling around, being loud, touching or PDA (public displays of affection) is not cool or in other words, very unprofessional.

3. Punctuality - you guys are great in this. I've never had so many interns that actually come in on time or early. Coming in on time shows you are responsible enough to get out of bed, do your thing and show up when you're needed and when you're supposed to.

4. Speech - the way you speak is very important. This is another strength I've noticed in you all. You know you're not in high school. Straight English is the way to go. Good job.

Please type up the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the seniors you called to confirm whether or not they were charged $10. Give the seniors you missed a call and see and ask for 2 things (1) Did you get your computer? (2) Were you charged $10? Then type up and e-mail me the info for only the people who said they were charged $10. I need this by the end of today for tomorrow morning.

This task is priority-1. Check all laptops and make sure the headphones are audible. Check the volume controls in the system tray, Rosetta Stone, headphone cable, and the laptop keyboard as well. Without sound, we cannot use Rosetta Stone which has been out of action for a while.

Teach How to Fish

Make sure our students are being taught what to do and that we are not doing things for them. When they can catch their own fish, their learning experience is more worth while and makes our jobs easier. Keep at it.

Please install Rosetta Stone on all the laptops. The CDs are in the black closet in our ETP office. For now, use only the white CDs, not the yellow ones. This can be done by next week if you need time to finish up past assignments. Plan to have the ETP Interns assist you.

Mohamed, please clear the cache and cookies on all the computers in the PC Lab. Remember to log back in as "lab1"-user after you use my u/n and p/w to log on to make the changes. You should be able to log on more than once with my u/n and p/w. This will enable us to use the surveys again.
